Game Log

Now Playing

  • Just Cause 2 (PC) - picked this up in the Steam summer sale at a pleasing price, feels like a brilliant upgrade of the first game, less repetitive.
  • Battlefield Bad Company 2 (PC) - pleasingly the final code is unsurpisingly much better than the beta was. Most of the little bugs have been ironed out in the server browser and search, kit selections are remembered, the most obvious exploits have been fixed and the balance seems to be improved. Now to get on with knifing everyone I can!
  • Modern Warfare 2 (PC) - short but pleasing single player experience and a long multiplayer life with lots of unlocks and awards.
  • DiRT 2 (PC) - good single player, good multiplayer, excellent variety in the modes. We stopped playing GRID when this came out!
  • Serious Sam 2 (PC) - a bit of a giggle in co-op with a few other players!
  • Mass Effect (PC) - started out on it, probably my next single player quest.
  • Patapon (PSP) - finally passed the burning desert.
  • Loco Roco 2 (PSP) - getting through it slowly.
  • GTA IV (PC) - played it on XBox, once more on PC. Shame about the abysmal performance on PC.
playing a bit of...
  • Saints Row 2 (PC) - Final few missions, struggling to be bothered to complete it.
  • God of War:Chains of Olympus (PSP) - nearly finished...struggling at the end.
  • Echochrome (PSP)

Future...

  • ARMA II - realism looks good, serious co-op. Nice videos. Waiting on a patch to fix the issues.
  • Diablo III (PC) - sequel to the classic!
  • Fallout 3 (PC) - another game on the long list of "to play when I have time"
  • Wheelman (PC) - a quickie game, waiting for the price to drop.
  • Burnout Paradise (PC) - I should get into this before it's over!
  • Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3) - very pretty, well received, also on the "to buy" list.
  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - PS3 - it's MGS, I have not played one for ages. :)

Old Stuff

  • Call of Duty: World At War (PC) Waiting for everyone to be ready to finish campaign co-op together... seem it is not going to happen!
  • Animal Crossing Wild World (DS)
  • GRID (PC) - played loads of this on and offline, superceded by DiRT 2 in the end.
  • Left 4 Dead (PC) - Ah co-op is SO great. Doing a lot of survival now.
  • Killzone 2 (PS3) - looked good, wasn't that good.
  • Crysis (PC) - Woo hoo, completed with record tardiness: 18 months!
  • Duke Nukem Forever (PC) - LOL it's REALLY coming out March 2009? (Update - turns out it was not be!)
  • Gitaroo Man (PSP) - this is a) good and b) hard. Nice learning curve though. Finally completed it (Apr 2009), still play it on flights sometimes.
  • Little Big Planet (PS3). Fun stuff - finished the main game, just playing user levels now. Got bored of it pretty quickly.
  • Far Cry 2 (PC) Bit bored of the single player. MP is badly balanced and servers suck. And it crashes regularly. Given up, might come back to it.
  • Omega Five (360) - seriously good R-Type cross Robotron shooter
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3) - lots of fun, not too easy!
  • Juiced 2 (PC) - PC version is SO much better than other formats. How come?
  • Nitro Stunt Racing (PC) - small studio racing title - thanks Game Seed.
  • Ridge Racer 7 (PS3) - I'm a secret Ridge addict.
  • BF2 (PC) - as always!
  • Soldner X (PC) - shootiest of shooters, sadly only from Play Asia on Limited Edition currently.

Sort Of Playing - when I have time

  • Unreal Tournament 3 (PC) - only managed to play an hour or two!
  • Black (PS2) - good start, need to finish it!

  • Half Life 2 Ep2 (PC) - playing it when I have time, ie slowly.
  • Thief: Deadly Shadows (PC) - saw it on Steam, enjoying it.
  • Halo 3 (360) - occasionally. I want to go back for the Skulls etc
  • Flight Sim X (PC) - when I need to fly!

Recently Finished With

Bioshock - PC

2010.07.29 Just not had time to sit down and finish this - if only I had known the finale was less than an hour away, I would have completed it months ago! Great game, nice story - final boss battle is a tad disappointing! I look forward to playing through Bioshock 2 with a clean conscience now. :)

BFBC2 Beta - PC

2010.03 even the single-map single-mode beta has proven great fun, the is definitely a keeper. Good range of weapons and pretty nice engine, however it has the usual DICE factor of some UI annoyances - slow server browser and no saved loadouts. Might be better in the final code?

Crysis (PC)

Finally got around to finishing the last few arduous levels of this romp. Now PC specs are finally way above the requirements for the game, it is nice to see it running as it should. Well worth finishing for the carrier deck scenes.

Ratchet & Clank Future

Lots of fun, engaging game, reasonable story. Plenty of variety and objectives provided the range of weapons. Opportunities to go back and improve on your item collection is nice. The only downside to this game, is it is way too easy. Literally the only serious challenge was the final boss battle, which I lost once due to falling off the edge, was beaten right at the end once and succeeded the third time, so still not that difficult.

LocoRoco Cocorrecho - PS3

This was a great little puzzler, filled a number of hours, innovative control system. Need to play it through a few times to unlock all the areas, which gave it more life than I expected.

PGR4 - 360

Finally reached Rank One, bought all the cars, tried everything, done with it now.

Operation Peacekeeper - PC BF2 Mod

A seriously good BF2 mod, new maps, new weapons, new vehicles. Very well designed, brings new life to the game. Have recently ditched this for POE2 mainly, will still play sometimes though.

Call Of Duty 4 - PC

This was fantastic, I have not played CoD2 or CoD3, so it was great to see how much the series has come on. Excellent story line, good mission variety! Probably better than MoHAA, even without the duck/lean system, nice to be set in the "now" for once.

Portal - PC

For me, this was the most exciting part of the Orange Box. Decent challenges, the story had plenty of quirks and Valve's trademark humour. I miss my companion cube!

Medal Of Honor Airborne - PC

A well made WWII shooter! I do not usually enjoy WWII games, as the genre is so full of clones, however this really was a breath of fresh air. I will probably go back an do this again on a higher difficulty. Shame the multiplayer's not too hot.
