About Chris

I spend most of my spare time on gaming, programming and photography.

Gaming

I am a member of a UK multigaming clan, SNAFU UK. We play Modern Warfare 2 and DiRT 2 - pretty much whatever current games we feel make for good multiplayer fun. In the past we have played BF2 (and mods), BF2142, Left4Dead, GRID, Call Of Duty 4, Far Cry 2 and ETQW. Find us on Steam

I can be found on Steam, Xbox Live / GfW Live, PSN, BF2 and many other games going under the name NinjaOxygen.

Photography

I am just starting out in the world of photography and have recently made the step up to a DSLR. So far, I enjoy snapping what I see on holidays or out and about, but have aspirations to do more in the near future. Check out my Flickr photostream to see some of my shots.

Programming

Professionally, I am an AMX and Crestron control systems programmer. I find this an enjoyable challenge to build intuitive highly functional systems in very resource and language limited systems.

When not at work, I play with any software I can get my hands on. I have extensive experience of C/C++ across a wide variety of platforms, from embedded Axis hardware running Linux to PIC software and serious Windows development.

I also like to play with scripting languages, with a view to quick command line scripting and scripting engines for games; I have spent a fair bit of time creating a highly generalised game engine based on Lua and DirectX 9, and also with using both Javascript and PHP as general purpose scripting languages.

In the course of my work, I have written a lot of middleware bridging products in a huge variety of languages - often PHP, ASP, C#, SQL. Sometimes this has been done through official APIs, other times reverse engineering products to extract the data directly from databases or (only when really necessary!) scraping web pages of the systems.
